18th October 2026 - For this year's annual reunion, I have chosen a location that is a beautiful example here in the Ostrava region that even a landscape devastated by a century of black coal mining can look literally breathtaking after reclamation. We are talking about a location that the locals have called "Karvinské More".

It was Sunday, October 18th, the weather listened to me, because it was an absolutely beautiful sunny and warm autumn day and our whippet family gathered in the parking lot by the summer cinema in the Božena Němcová park in Karviná. Except for three people and their four-year-old darlings, the entire Moravian-Silesian whippet gang Baya Nobles gathered, for which I am extremely grateful to the owners of my offspring. In today's busy and hectic world, it is not entirely easy. It was amazing that representatives from all existing litters gathered, from "A"s to "G"s.

I planned the route as a pleasant walk of about 6 km, the destination of which was the already mentioned 'Karvinské More'. From the parking lot we set off through the park past the newly opened Inhalatorium of the Darkov Spa. I learned about this newly opened initiative from a regional television broadcast, so I decided to check it out with my whippet friends. The Inhalatorium was lined with people on a Sunday walk who had the same idea as me, with the difference that they did not have a 15-head herd of whippets with them. Our whole group caused a slight stir and we became another attraction in the park. We continued walking past the enclosures with deer, fallow deer and other forest animals, which form a small mini zoo in the park to the blind branch of the Olše River, where there is a boat rental with a restaurant and a sports workout area. It was under reconstruction at the time, so we continued along the Olše River to the old Darkov spa, and then across the bridge over the aforementioned Olše River to the area of former coal dumps, which are now flooded. The reclamation of the previously destroyed, literally lunar landscape created a beautiful place with crystal clear water, sandy beaches and surroundings that are slowly being absorbed by a mixed forest. In short, an ideal place for walks and recreation.

As every year, we talked during the walk, shared experiences, and advised each other on what and how to do and improve our coexistence with our whippet pets. Of course, there was no shortage of photo shoots and some filming, which you can see attached to the article. As a thank you, I prepared small packages for all participants for their four-legged pets. Hopefully they made you happy.
